What Are The Characteristics Of Polyester Fabric?

Jun. 17, 2020

Polyester fabric is what we commonly call "true", the scientific name is polyester fibre, widely used in clothing manufacturing and luggage custom industry, many backpacks on the market are made of polyester fabric. today, Home Textile Bleached Fabric Suppliers give Let's talk about what are the characteristics of polyester fabric, let's understand it together.

1. Good flexibility

Polyester fabric has high strength and elastic recovery ability, polyester fabric has high strength and elastic recovery ability, the bag made of polyester fabric is firm and durable, anti-wrinkle and non-iron.

2. Good corrosion resistance

Polyester fabrics are resistant to bleach, oxidants, hydrocarbons, ketones, petroleum products and inorganic acids. Resistant to dilute alkali, not afraid of mildew, but hot alkali can decompose it. There is also a strong ability to resist acid, alkali and ultraviolet rays. Therefore, the finished products made of polyester twill fabric have better corrosion resistance.

3. Good light resistance

Light resistance is second only to acrylic. Polyester grey twill fabrics have good light resistance, except that they are inferior to acrylic fibers, and their lightfastness is better than natural fiber fabrics. Especially the light resistance behind the glass is very good, almost comparable to acrylic.

4. Poor dyeing

Although the polyester fabric has poor dyeability, it has good color fastness and is not easy to fade. Once the dyeing is successful, the color does not fade easily.

5. Poor hygroscopicity

Polyester is less hygroscopic than nylon, so it is not as breathable as nylon, but polyester is very easy to dry after washing, and the fabric strength hardly decreases, so it is not easy to deform. The produced luggage products are generally not deformed by washing.

6. Good thermoplasticity and poor melting resistance

Due to the smooth surface of polyester and the close arrangement of internal molecules, polyester is the most heat-resistant fabric in synthetic fiber fabrics and has thermoplasticity. At the same time, polyester fabrics have poor resistance to melting, and they are easy to form holes when they encounter soot and sparks. Therefore, you should try to avoid contact with cigarette butts and sparks.

7. Good wear resistance

The luggage products made of polyester materials have better wear resistance and scratch resistance. Under normal use, they can be used for a long time without deformation, fading, or damage. Polyester fabrics have different specifications, such as 75D, 150D, 300D, 600D, Both 1200D and 1800D are polyester, and the fabric is darker and rougher than nylon. D is the abbreviation of DENIER (Denier), the greater the number of D, the greater the density of the material, the thicker the quality, the better the wear resistance.
